Hardee’s Launches Stars for Heroes Campaign to Support Military Families

RALEIGH, NC, and RICHMOND, Va. (May 22, 2015) – Local Hardee’s restaurants throughout North Carolina and Virginia have kicked off fundraising in support of military families and veterans with the Stars for HeroesTM campaign. Running now through June 16th, Hardee’s customers are being asked to donate $1 in support of active duty military and veterans and will receive a commemorative, patriotic star cut-out. In turn, the guest will receive a coupon sheet valued at $10 in savings on the purchase of Hardee’s menu items and the star is placed on the wall of the local restaurant.

Proceeds from this year’s Stars For Heroes fundraiser at the Hardee’s locations operated by franchisee Boddie-Noell Enterprises (most of which are in North Carolina and Virginia) will go to The Patriot Foundation. The North Carolina-based, all-volunteer nonprofit raises funds toprovide support to military families who have a soldier that has been wounded, injured or killed while in service to our country fighting the Global War on Terrorism.

In addition, a portion of the proceeds raised from the sale of Stars will go to two national organizations that support military-minded charities, Dream Foundation’s Dreams for Veterans and USA Cares. The national Stars for Heroes campaign is being led by CKE Restaurants, the parent company of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. restaurants. The campaign has raised more than $3.5 million since its inception in 2011.

The Boddie-Noell-operated Hardee’s restaurants designated the Patriot Foundation for this year’s campaign as the regional recipient charity because of the company’s successful partnership with the organization over the past decade.

The Patriot Foundation began in 2003 to provide college scholarship assistance to children of 82nd Airborne Division soldiers and children of Army Special Operations soldiers. Since then, the Patriot Foundation has broadened its reach, donating more than $3 million and providing some 860 college scholarships as well as child care for spouses who need to go back to school.

“We’re excited to kick off this Stars For Heroes partnership again with the Patriot Foundation,” said Jerry Allsbrook, chief marketing officer for Boddie-Noell Enterprises. “In North Carolina and Virginia where we have many military installations and families of current and former military, it’s gratifying to see our customers support these families as they work to secure a positive future after sacrificing like they have for our country.”

“We’re very grateful for the collaboration again with Hardee’s and Boddie-Noell,” said Chuck Deleot, president and board chair of The Patriot Foundation. “They’ve been supportive of the military and veteran community over the years and we appreciate the generosity of their customers.”
