Hardee’s Locations Operated by Boddie-Noell Raise More Than $130,000 to Benefit Military Families and Veterans

ROCKY MOUNT N.C. (July 22, 2011)  Hardee’s® restaurants owned and operated by franchisee Boddie-Noell Enterprises raised more than $130,000 during the recent “Stars for Troops” fundraiser to support charities that serve military families and veterans.

The fundraiser allowed customers to donate in exchange for special discounts on Hardee’s menu items. The funds were raised during a three week, in-store campaign in May and will assist military families and veterans through national charity partnerships with Homes for Our Troops and USA Cares

To participate, restaurant guests contributed $1 and received a cut-out star which entitled the buyer to receive a special coupon sheet with discounts valued at more than $10 on Hardee’s menu items. The stars displayed customers’ names and decorated the walls of Hardee’s restaurants.

The “Stars for Troops” campaign ran at both Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr.® restaurants owned by CKE Restaurants Inc., and raised over $1 million dollars for the inaugural fundraiser.  The more than $1 million raised through the 2011 Stars for Troops fundraiser will directly support both local and national programs of Homes for Our Troops and USA Cares throughout the entire year.

In addition, certain funds have been earmarked to benefit regional veterans and military groups with existing ties to individual Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s restaurant communities.

All 335 Hardee’s restaurants across North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky and South Carolina operated by Boddie-Noell Enterprises, the largest Hardee’s franchise in the U.S., participated in the fundraiser and raised over a tenth of the total funds donated.

Boddie-Noell Enterprises has a history of supporting the military. In addition to this year’s “Stars for Troops” promotion, Boddie-Noell has also supported the Patriot Foundation, an organization that provides support to children of military families and college scholarships to children of fallen Fort Bragg, N.C. soldiers.

“Supporting the military has always been extremely important to us at Boddie-Noell,” said Jerry Allsbrook, chief marketing officer for Boddie-Noell Enterprises. “We’re excited that the inaugural “Stars for Troops” fundraiser resonated with our customers and that we could show our appreciation for the military families who have done so much for us.”

Homes for Our Troops is a national non-profit organization founded in 2004 that supports injured veterans by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor in order to build homes that allow veterans to live as independently and comfortably as possible.
