NASHVILLE, N.C. (June 12, 2013) – Rose Hill Plantation announced today that Michael Pupillo has been named Executive Chef of the elegant special-events facility, bringing with him outstanding culinary achievements and recognition.

Pupillo most recently served as sous chef and trainer at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham. Previously, he was banquet sous chef and trainer for eight years at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Palm Beach, Fla.

During Pupillo’s career at the Ritz-Carlton, the culinary team achieved the highest possible ranking in banquet food quality every month, ranking second for the company worldwide. He was also recognized as employee of the year and received several quarterly Five Star Employee awards from the Ritz-Carlton organization.

Pupillo, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, also owned and operated a highly recognized Italian restaurant in North Babylon, N.Y. and was chef d’cuisine at  Panama Hatties, which was awarded the No.1 fine dining restaurant on Long Island and earned four stars from the New York Times.

At Rose Hill, Pupillo will be in charge of all aspects of menu development and overseeing food preparation and presentation for guests.

Noted for its beautifully restored 18th-century Manor House and adjacent Nathan Hall banquet center, Rose Hill Plantation serves as an elegant setting for weddings, special events and business conferences.  The Manor Housel and the surrounding farm date back to the 1760s and is the ancestral home of the Boddie family which include Boddie-Noell Enterprises co-founders and brothers Mayo and Nick Boddie.

Pupillo succeeds Marrotta who became executive chef at Rose Hill in 2006 but will devote his efforts full time as General Manager to meeting the growing demands of Rose Hill bookings for weddings and other events.

“Walter has done a great job of making sure dining is one of the important parts of a successful Rose Hill experience for our guests and we look forward to Michael building upon that,” said Mayo Boddie Sr., chairman of Boddie-Noell, of Pupillo’s appointment.
